The Swiss Path – Section 1: Seelisberg (Rütli) - Bauen

The Swiss Path starts at Gasthaus Rütli (the boat journey from Brunnen to the Rütli station takes around 10 minutes) and leads you mostly through the forest with numerous bends up to Seelisberg, which is around Protected content higher. If you need refreshments, you can choose from various restaurants in the village.
The route leads past the parish church and the Maria Sonnenberg pilgrimage chapel to the upper part of the village of Seelisberg. This opens up a marvellous view of Lake Uri and the Reuss delta. You can discover the Rütli meadow right at your feet.
Just before the freshly scented Tannwald forest, a children's playground invites you to linger. You soon reach Beroldingen Castle with its magnificent view over Lake Uri. From here, it's a gentle descent to the Wyler ‘Wyssig’ and then over Protected content steps on an old mule track down quite steeply to the Mediterranean Bauen.
We will take the train from Zurich HB (to Zug and then from Zug to Brunnen). Then a boat will take us from Brunnen to Rütli. To come back we will take a boat from Bauen to Brunnen (and then the return trains back to Zurich). Buy all the tickets in advance.
