The brothers Jan and Kris van der Plas were both raised and educated in the Netherlands, but with their distinct Balinese heritage, they aim to create a connection between traditional Indonesian music and classical European music. The duo explores this connection in their recent debut CD Srikandi, released in Protected content the Challenge Records label.
They were named by NRC as one of the best albums of Protected content , and the same newspaper awarded the album four stars. In addition, they have been nominated for the prestigious Preis der Deutschen Schallplattenkritik and received a 9/10 rating from Pianist magazine.
They have also appeared on various TV and radio programs, including Podium Klassiek, and the shows Podium, Spiegelzaal, and Passaggio Late Night on NPO Klassiek.
