THRACE WINE ROUTE I ~ EDIRNE VINEYARDS
According to history, the first traces of winemaking in Anatolia go back around 7,000 years to the Hittites, the oldest civilizations in the area, where wine had an essential role in social life. It was also the prime libation to the gods, and laws protecting viticulture as well as festivals celebrating each vintage express the importance of wine.
Also Thrace, a geographical area that is split between modern day Bulgaria, Greece, and Turkey, possesses a centuries old tradition of wine making.
Let's start visiting Wine Routes of Turkey with a series of trips this year also and learn about this ancient tradition of humankind as we also learn about the culture of the regions.
On this route, we will be visiting 2 popular Vineyards in the region of The City of Edirne, and have a great brunch on the way.
