Highland Games in Donnerskirchen Burgenland
The Highland Games is free, has good food, and drinks on hand, and is simple to get to with no need to drive. In fact taking a car is a distinct disadvantage as parking is a nightmare. Donnerskirchen, Burgenland is near the Neusiedlersee and the train from Vienna Hauptbahnhof leaves (and returns) hourly and stops at the grounds of the games. Two tables have been reserved for our group with covered seating for around 16 people in a great location. With the games, pipes and Drums performances, several piping contests, stands serving food and drinks, and many things ‘Scottish’, it is a fun day out for the entire family. The event starts at about 11.30 a.m.; entrance FREE
Public transport: train from Vienna Main Station (Hauptbahnhof) REX Protected content 12 A-B,
