British photographer, writer, and humanitarian Giles Duley began his career as a successful music and fashion photographer, working for publications including Vogue, GQ, and Esquire. He later left commercial photography to document the lives of civilians affected by war, displacement, and poverty.
In Protected content , while working in Afghanistan, Duley stepped on an improvised explosive device and lost both legs and his left arm. After intensive treatment and rehabilitation, he returned to Afghanistan less than a year later, determined to continue telling the stories of people living with the lasting consequences of conflict.
Today, Duley is the founder and CEO of the Legacy of War Foundation and the United Nations Global Advocate for Persons with Disabilities in Conflict and Peacebuilding Settings.
Illustrated by his powerful photographs, this artist talk promises remarkable stories from an extraordinary life. Join me in listening to and learning from an fascinating individual.
