Ce film est présenté en hors-compétition au Festival de Cannes Protected content en fait l'ouverture. C'est le premier long-métrage d'Amélie Bonnin. Il est tiré du court-métrage éponyme, récompensé par le César du meilleur court-métrage de fiction en Protected content . Malgré ce succès, adapter cette œuvre dans un format long n'était pas une évidence pour la réalisatrice.
