San Francisco Bay Area percussionist Robert Rangel has been immersed in music since childhood. His father, Eric Rangel, was not only his first inspiration; he was also his first teacher. He has since studied with multiple percussionists including Karl Perazzo and Mike Spiro.

Over the years Robert has worked diligently developing his musical versatility. He is recognized for his ability to transcend barriers between Salsa, Jazz, R&B and Rock.
Robert has performed with artists such as John Santos, Jesus Diaz, Orestes Vilato, Pete Escovedo, Edgardo Cambon, Los Lobos and Los Otros. Currently, he is a member of Northern California’s most in demand cover band Pop Fiction. He also plays with the new yacht rock sensation Mustache Harbor. He most recently recorded with jazz rock guitarist, The Jeff Suburu Band. Robert was also featured with Kupaoa from Hawaii in Na Lei Hulu’s Annual Hula Show. No matter what style of music his career takes him, he returns to his Latin roots by playing in his father's ten-piece Salsa band Orquesta America.
