Conjunto Media Luna CO - in Concert

With an accordion strapped to his chest, Colombian musician Iván Medellín takes us on a sonic voyage of discovery. In his project Conjunto Media Luna, he fuses the traditional music genre of cumbia with synthesizers, samplers, and drum machines.

Iván Medellín brings cumbia into a new era. With his accordion hanging from his chest, he bridges this deeply rooted Colombian hybrid genre with modern electronic elements. Embracing cumbia’s rich traditions, he reshapes it with references to everything from doom metal and hardcore to Latin American club music. During the Copenhagen Jazz Festival Protected content , Conjunto Media Luna invites us to join this sonic exploration. So lace up your dancing shoes and come along for the ride!

In Protected content , Conjunto Media Luna released its debut EP, followed by the full-length album Noches de Media Luna in Protected content Bogotá-based label Mambo Records. The album was produced by Meridian Brothers’ Eblis Álvarez, with whom Medellín also collaborated on their joint album Paz en la tierra Protected content . With this project, Conjunto Media Luna has established himself as a vital part of Latin America’s electronic underground, performing internationally in Germany, the Netherlands, the UK, and Mexico.
