Santrofi - Ghana - in Concert

Santrofi.
Explosive Highlife from Ghanaian music collective.
With infectious charisma, choreography, and irresistible rhythms, the Ghanaian music collective Santrofi has made it their mission to bring the dance music genre highlife back to life and into a new era.
Santrofi, a musical collective from Ghana, is born out of a deep love for the highlife-music its members grew up with; the exuberantly festive and horn-dominated dance music genre deriving from Ghana. Santrofi is not only known for their catchy rhythms, jazzy horns, and call-and-response vocals, but also for their choreography. As The Guardian wrote about their Protected content album ‘Alewa’: “You can’t hear the choreography on this debut, but the playing remains immaculate”. Led by the group’s producer and bassist Emmanuel Kwadwo Ofori, the collective’s seven musicians set the stage for an explosive party!
Now, Santrofi returns with the follow-up to ‘Alewa’, recorded and mixed by Grammy-winner Jerry Boys. The album, released this February, is titled ‘Making Moves’ and stands both as a tribute to the band members’ roots and as a vision for the future sound of highlife. On the album you’ll find funk-driven dancefloor bangers as well as soulful songs reflecting on life. The members of Santrofi has collaborated with countless artists, including Kidi, Yaw Tog, AratheJay, and Black Sherif, and the collective even played Roskilde Festival. A concert that was given 5/6 stars in POV International, and 4/6 in GAFFA.
