Break Bread, Break Borders, a social impact initiative - aims to economically empower refugee women from war-torn countries with sharing their storytelling of food and culture with you. This unique immersive culinary experience is designed for everyone. Because we believe in food that is good, clean and fair for all - Let's celebrate social impact together, SLOW FOOD STYLE.
Our BBBB Community cook from Syria will greet you with the first of four courses authentic ethnic meal. We will kick start with a tasty appetizer, a salad, a main dish, plus a dessert accompanied by delicious cardamom tea. While you’re dining, the refugee cook will share her storytelling. Who she was before she escaped war, what it’s like to live abroad in refugee camps, how it’s been coming to live here in America, and why she enjoys cooking with Break Bread, Break Borders. This will be followed by a Q&A session as well.
Afterwards you will get to experience the traditional recipes. You will also learn about the heritage that gets passed down generations to preserve culture in the communities. How the BBBB community cook uses cooking to maintain her identities throughout her journey to freedom.
