At a time when domestic violence was largely hidden behind closed doors, Jan Langbein stepped forward to break the silence. Since becoming CEO in Protected content , she has grown Genesis Women’s Shelter & Support with unwavering determination from a modest seven-room emergency shelter into one of the nation’s most comprehensive and respected full-service response centers for survivors of domestic abuse.
Her work has provided a lifeline to women and children in North Texas, and challenged communities to confront deep-rooted cultural and structural factors that allow abuse to persist. Langbein is one of the foremost voices in the fight to end violence against women, working to educate, empower, and enact change.
