A Relaxing Saturday at the Local Market
There’s a market by the water at Noordplein that I keep going back to. On Saturday mornings the stalls fill with fruit, vegetables, cheese, bread and flowers — everything local, everything fresh — and the whole place smells like whatever’s cooking at the food stands.
That’s where we’re going.
Bring a bag if you’d like to do your shopping, or bring nothing at all and just come to eat. No plan, no route, no rushing — we wander, we taste things, we talk. If you’re new to Rotterdam, it’s a lovely way to see how the city actually lives on a Saturday.
We’re meeting at 10:30, late enough for a proper lie-in. Afterwards there are plenty of cafés nearby for a coffee or a drink — Jordy’s Bakery and Wolly are both favourites of mine. I won’t book anything in advance; Saturdays are busy and it’s easier to see where we land.
Send me a short message to confirm and I’ll share the meeting point.
See you there,
Skippy
