Isis & Ursula, Guide to Female Godess & Holy of Cologne History
Until the 4th century, Cologne was one of the most important centres of Isis worship north of the Alps. The Church of St. Ursula stands on the site of a former Isis sanctuary and thus symbolizes a continuity in the veneration of female saints. How the legend of St. Ursula developed in Cologne up to the elevation of Ursula to the patron saint of the city and what kind of influence women had on religion in Cologne are important aspects of this tour.
