Let's take a break from the mountains and before it gets cold! We will walk/hike along the Miura Peninsula. This is a part of Kanagawa that juts out into the Pacific Ocean and gives us a very unique coastal terrain formed by volcanic rock.

Please meet us at Shinagawa station at the FRONT of the train (in the direction it is going). We will be departing using the Keikyu Line Rapid-Limited Express (For Keikyu-Kurihama) 8:38am. This is a separate line - using a special entrance at Shinagawa station. Please come early to find it if you are not familiar with this line. It is NOT the JR line...but easily accessible from the main floor at the station. We will arrive at Miura Kaigan at 9:42. At that station we will catch a short bus ride to our starting point.

We are straddled between high and low tide - High tide is scheduled around 8am and low tide around 1:45 pm. So, this is just about right for our journey.

As per usual, you are responsible for your own safety and welfare. This means sticking with the group unless you ask to be excused. This also means that you are bringing the proper gear (shoes) and food for lunch etc. Sunscreen and a hat are recommended.

While this is an easy walk/hike - it has moments where we have to negotiate the sea and rocks - occasionally balancing yourself to cross a crevasse in the rocks or possibly getting wet. The occasional wall to walk is also going to be required. So, if you have balance problems, knee trouble or just don't like the slightest of getting wet or small heights - this is not the hike for you. Hiking sticks are sometimes in the way if you have to negotiate rocks etc. So, I will likely not be carrying mine.

Rain is almost an immediate cancel - so, stay tuned for a possible revision to this plan to do an inland route instead. Rocks are occasionally slippery especially near the ocean. Rain is currently predicted Saturday - but as per usual lately - hard to predict at this point.

Please let me know if you plan on attending.
