Laura Freudenthaler : « Arson »

Let's participate in the book presentation by Laura Freudenthaler of her book « Arson ».

The woman whose voice we hear in this book observes how those around her are spiralling out of control. In her life, a global catastrophe is looming: fires are burning everywhere, drought reigns, heat sets in. With a meteorologist as an accomplice, keeping an eye on the fire maps that list every fire in the world, the two of them seem to be controlling what has long since got out of hand. Painfully clear, this story speaks of our destructive present and at the same time moves through all the spaces between sleep, dream and waking.

Laura Freudenthaler's language manages to create moments of intense beauty.

Laura Freudenthaler was born in Salzburg in Protected content lives in Vienna.
She made her debut in Protected content "Der Schädel von Madeleine".
Since then she has won several prizes, including the Bremer Literaturpreis, the European Union Literary Prize, the Anton Wildgans Prize and the Reinhard Priessnitz Prize.
