Ready to Join?

You are cordially invited to join our traditional annual Midsummer potluck picnic and Ivan Kupala night.

Dress in your summer best, bring your picnic food and drink, chair or picnic blanket and whatever you wish to have and prepare for a day of cheer and celebrate the most mysterious Eastern European festival, the magical atmosphere of Ivan Kupala, (Kupala Night) together.

In the early Pagan time, people’s celebration of summer and sun is quite common across the nations of Eastern Europe. Ivan, a widespread Christian Slavic name, is associated with John the Baptist. By the way, Ivan Kupala Night coincides with one of the biggest Orthodox holidays in his name. Kupala refers to the word ‘bathing’ of Slavic origin and the god of fertility and harvest. Some theories connect Ivan Kupala with Cupid, the Roman god of love. Well, folks could find their true love that night, so everything is possible. This is one of the most important days of the solar calender of our ancestors, and is the symmetrical to the Christmas. This is the celebration of first harvest of the year as well

I hope we will have a wonderful celebration where the tradition unites people of different nationalities and cultural backgrounds!
See you all,
