Maasticht Comedy Night
Welcome to the third edition of our stand-up comedy series: Kaleido Laughs.
We've invited three internationally renowned comedians and two more-or-less local student comedians having a go on the big stage.
THE FUNNY GUYS
HEADLINER: Bob Maclaren (NZ)
Bob was born in New Zealand and is now a resident of Amsterdam. He has delighted every corner of the world with his laconic and surprising comedy. A combination of kiwi isolation and the lurid madness of Benelux gives Bob a refreshingly unusual view of life as he sees it. A storyteller extraordinaire with a body language that can be best described as mildly unhinged; his routines have been televised on every continent. A superbly visual performer with razor sharp observations, Bob’s stand up has seen him grace the stages of Montreal, London, Amsterdam and every other corner of the planet.
MAIN SUPPORT: Carly Baker (USA)
Carly is a Comedian of the Year Finalist in Scotland and began her comedy career at the Laff Stop in Houston, and was soon opening for heavy hitters like Darrell Hammond, Ralphie May, and Adam Ferrara. Having established herself on the North-East comedy scene, Carly then moved to Scotland and regularly gigged at such venues as The Stand in Edinburgh and Glasgow. She has also been involved with Comedy Capers at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.
MC: Mino van Nassau (IND)
Mino is a comedian with an Indian flavor. His Indian background plays a big role in his stand up comedy. He also has great hilarious stories with his Dutch wife and family. Mino has been inspired by famous comedians like Russell Peters, Carlos Mencia, Gabriel Iglesias and Chris Rock.
LOCAL TALENT I: Kasper Sukselainen (FIN)
It's way easier to warm to this comedian's jokes than to the climate of his home country. Kasper's adventures have now taken him to Maastricht University to study European Studies. He began his comedian career a few years ago in a shady basement of an even shadier bar in Helsinki's hipster district - and now he's ready to conquer the Netherlands.
LOCAL TALENT II: Jonah Garland (USA)
Jonah Garland hails from Washington DC in the United States of America (no affiliation with current regime). Studying Arts and Culture at Maastricht University he assumes he will find no job prospects in the near future and thusly decided to do Stand-Up Comedy. He hopes it does not go as poorly as his mother told him it would.
