CANCELLED! Man Up;the New Misogyny & Rise of Violent Extremism
UNFORTUNATELY DUE TO AN EMERGENCY AT HOME IN THE STATES THIS HAD TO BE CANCELLED: WE WILL TRY TO RESCHEDULE.
This new and insightful book will be presented by the author Dr. Cynthia Miller-Idriss, a Professor in the School of Public Affairs and the School of Education at the American University in Washington DC, where she is also the founding director of the Polarization and Extremism Research and Innovation Lab (PERIL). As a leading expert on extremism and radicalization, she presents her urgent and provocative new book Man Up, which explores how misogyny is not merely a side effect but a central force driving violent extremism worldwide. Through gripping stories, sharp analysis, and compelling research, she reveals how gender-based resentments fuel the rise of hate movements — and why understanding this connection is vital to combating them.
The event will feature a conversation with Miller-Idriss, followed by audience Q&A and a book signing. Books will be available for purchase.
Whether you are a student, educator, policymaker, activist, or concerned citizen, this timely discussion offers valuable insights into the intersections of gender, violence, and extremism in today’s political climate.
Please note: We ask all attendees to engage respectfully and thoughtfully throughout the event to ensure a safe and welcoming environment for everyone.
