The exhibition comprises Protected content from the 19th century, mainly
hailing from Lombardy, taken from the Fondazione Cariplo and
Intesa Sanpaolo art collections. Beginning with Neoclassicism,
represented by the bas-reliefs of Canova, the exhibition goes right
through to the early 20th century with the pre-Futurist canvases of
Boccioni, taking in a century of Italian art on the way including the
historic paintings of Hayez, Italian unification battles, vedutes and
landscapes, genre scenes and masterpieces of Symbolism.
