A Short Guided Tour: Step Into the World of the Carolingians

Dear archeology lover,
Join me for a brief guided tour Protected content about 1 and only object from the past.
A rare and remarkable fragment of a Carolingian cathedra – the ceremonial seat of a bishop and a powerful symbol of spiritual and political authority during the early medieval period.
This carved stone fragment, dating back to the 9th century, offers a unique window into the artistry and religious significance. Discover how such seats were not only functional but also richly symbolic, representing continuity with Roman tradition and the divine right of leadership.
The Landesmuseum of Mainz offers on this evening another event "Wein Salon", which we can join together afterwards.
