Hiking medium level again top peaks in CDMX
Mexico City highest summits: Pico del Aguila & Cruz del Marquéz
This hike is Moderately Strenuous, presents substantial elevation gain, and difficult terrain. Suitable for experienced hikers only. People eligible for this trip must engage in moderately heavy exercise on a regular basis, considering it'll be a 6/7 hours, 7.5 km long hike with an elevation gain of Protected content . This is the hardest path to the summit of Ajusco.
The hike starts at the Abrevadero (Trough), climbing towards the Espinazo del Diablo (Devil's Spine) all the way to the Pico del Águila (Eagle's Peak) (2.3 km / 2 hours) and then we'll continue to Cruz del Marqués (Marquez Cross), two of Mexico City’s tallest summits. The descent is not on the same route, we'll hike towards Cañada de Santo Tomás (St. Thomas Ravine), across the forest in Cerro de Santo Tomás (Saint Thomas Mount), closing the circuit with our return to the Abrevadero (trough).
What you need for the hike:
Adequate footwear is mandatory - Hiking boots or shoes or at least sneakers. If you don’t wear proper shoes you will be discouraged to participate, because the trails are often steep and usually present loose rocks, making it easy to get injured.
Please bring with you:
• 1.5 Lts Drinking Water
• Waterproof jacket and trousers in case it rains.
• Warm Jacket, it usually is quite cold and windy at the top of the mountain
• Recommended light fabric shirts
• Hat & sunglasses
Unfortunately, signaling is scarce in Mexican hiking routes, so don’t expect us to constantly follow a trail.
