Discover the Buffalo Bayou Park Cistern, a unique underground space located in the heart of the city. Built in Protected content a drinking water reservoir for the City of Houston, the 87,500-square-foot Cistern has been restored and repurposed into a public venue for tours, performances, and art installations.
Cistern Illuminated is a seasonal light and sound installation that highlights the Cistern’s scale, acoustics, and reflective surfaces. The artists used shifting light, color, and subtle sound to create an immersive environment that visitors can explore at their own pace.
Protected content Arrive early to allow enough time for parking.
January 18 is the final day of the installation, and tickets are expected to sell out. If you’d like to join, please purchase tickets as soon as possible.
After the tour, if there’s interest, we will go to a nearby restaurant for food or drinks.
