Opera Time: Handel’s Messiah (Arranged by Mozart)
Let’s go to the opera!
This production of Handel’s Messiah, arranged by Mozart, will be staged in the United States for the first time; and first time of this choral masterpiece in Houston Grand Opera's history.
A bale of hay comes to life and plays with a little girl. A headless mannequin holds a lobster on a leash. A confused astronaut wanders amongst a group of choristers while a video of a collapsing glacier plays in the background. Reminiscent of Disney’s Fantasia, these are but a few of the arresting images from the revered director’s presentation of this surreal, mesmerizing production.
Before the performance we'll meet at Wortham Theater lobby on a second floor at 1 pm. They have drinks and food available for purchase.
