InterNations — A Community for American Expats in Almaty

Hello to all Americans in Almaty! Are you interested in getting to know fellow expats in Almaty? Looking for advice from other Americans, e.g. wondering if there are any bars in Almaty which will be showing your favorite baseball or American football team’s upcoming match or where to go in town for st■ turkey?

There’s no doubt about it: Almaty may no longer be the capital of Kazakhstan, but it is still the major cultural and commercial center of the country. The most populous Kazakh city is a cosmopolitan city known for being the country’s major transportation hub, but also for its many green spaces and museums, the skiing and hiking opportunities in the nearby mountains, and much more! With the local bus, tram, and trolleybus routes, as well as the Almaty Metro and a well-developed road network, navigating your way around the city from one place to the next is simple. This also means that if you don’t want to live among the hustle and bustle of the center, you can enjoy a quieter life in Remizovka or around Dostyk Avenue, for example, which are about half an hour away from Almaty’s center.

Although Almaty has lots to offer, you might be wondering where and how you can meet other Americans in the city. Luckily, InterNations is here to make this easier for you! You’re warmly invited to join the InterNations community. Within our international network in Almaty, there’s a vibrant circle of American expats from all regions of USA, including New York City, Los Angeles, and beyond.
