BSN Number (Amsterdam)
Hello all
I have recently moved to Amsterdam and am in the process of looking for work until September, when I will be going to university in Groningen.
I have found a flat in Amsterdam, and am in possession of a rental agreement. I have an appointment on 3rd July to formally register and to receive my BSN number.
However, I have been told that it may take several weeks for the number to come through, and that I therefore cannot set up a bank account or arrange health insurance until I have it.
Does this also mean I cannot work until I have the number? It has been suggested to me that if I can find a job before it comes through, I can begin working immediately and can simply give my employer my BSN number and bank account details when I have them, before my first pay-cheque comes through.
I am unsure whether it is worth applying for jobs before I have the number. I would be grateful if someone could clarify this for me.
Many thanks
Joe
