Subject: Protest Alert and Newcomers' event change date to Sunday, 18th November.

Dear All,

I just find out about the large demonstrations with 10,000 to 20,000 participants are expected to take place beginning at approximately 6:00 p.m. on November 17, Protected content commemorate the anniversary of the Protected content against the then-ruling junta. Road closures will begin at 1:00 p.m. and cause severe traffic disruptions.

The following metro stations will be close.
1. Megaro Mousikis station starting at 3 p.m.
2. Evangelismos from 4.30 p.m.
3. Syntagma from 4.30 p.m.

For safety reason, InterNations Athens Newcomers' Event will move the date from Saturday, 17th to 18th November Protected content starting from 19:00 instead.

Demonstration Alert – U. S. Embassy Athens and U.S. Consulate General Thessaloniki, Greece (November 16, Protected content

Location: Expected gathering points are the Athens Polytechnic University, continuing to Syntagma Square and the U.S. Embassy and concluding in Exarchia.

Event: Large demonstrations with 10,000 to 20,000 participants are expected to take place beginning at approximately 6:00 p.m. on November 17, Protected content commemorate the anniversary of the Protected content against the then-ruling junta. Road closures will begin at 1:00 p.m. and cause severe traffic disruptions.

Advised to avoid the downtown areas of Athens and to stay behind police lines until the Greek authorities announce the conclusion of the event. In the past, some demonstrations commemorating this date turned violent and led to the destruction of property. There is a potential for tear-gas and anti-riot engagement between police and demonstrators.

Actions to Take:
- Avoid the area of the demonstration.
- Exercise caution if unexpectedly in the vicinity of large gatherings or protests.
- Do not cross police lines through demonstrations.
- Be aware of your surroundings.
- Keep a low profile
- Monitor local media for updates.
