Average percentage spent on housing (Berlin)

Hi all,

I am in the midst of a hiring process for a position based in Berlin. I am however a little bit sceptic about what the level of pay would be. The standard salary offer would be around €2000/month but I got an indication that it could be negotioable to a little bit higher level.

My question is not so much about salary in itself but rather what one can expect to pay for a decent 2 room apartment in Berlin? I am not interested in moving if that would mean I would have to: 1.live like a rat 2. eating breadcrumbs 3. live in the periferal parts of the city (i.e wittenau, marienfelde etc)

Does anyone have any thoughts/input/advice on this?? Thanks a lot in advance!
