Multilingual education in Brussels threatened

Dear cosmopolitan friends,

Those following the local news may have heard that the Flemish Minister of Education, Pascal Smet, decided last Friday to dump a 30-year old program of bicultural and multilingual education in Brussels, the heart of Europe.
The program involved Spanish, Italian and Turkish speaking children.
The program won many awards (including European ones) and its educational value has been proven in numerous scientific studies.
The Minister did not consult with the children, parents, teachers or schools and gave no clear reason why the program should be closed.
The affected parents (including myself) are extremely upset and would like to ask for your support.
