announced security actions at Brussels airport on Monday july 3
Your IN strike manager reports: unions have announced they will conduct security checks "by the book" on Monday. This means everyone will be thouroughly checked, including all bags. This will of course result in longer waiting times, especially since Monday will be very busy. So, if you have a flight on Monday make sure you go there well in advance. Count on 3 hrs for an international flight, 2 hrs for local.
Reason for the action: the airport installed new automatic security gates for intra-Europe flights, but apparently this system is full of leaks. Several people have just slipped through the automatic doors (just like in the metro). The unions state this is a major security risk, the airport says there is no problem since people will be checked several times after the gates.
