Classic concert in Cairo Opera

Experience the currently most famous classical pianist and conductor at his exclusive concert in Cairo.

After having conducted only recently the world famous Viennese New Year’s concert Protected content Barenboim will, for the first time, perform in Egypt. The programme of this extraordinary evening in Cairo foresees piano solo pieces and will also see Mr Barenboim conduct Ludwig van Beethoven’s Symphony no 5 with the Cairo Symphony Orchestra.

Mr Barenboim – who is proud to also hold the Palestinian citizenship - is strongly engaged in the Dialogue among Cultures. In Protected content founded together with famous Palestinian Edward Said the so-called West-Eastern Divan Orchestra, a highly successful artistic project that is enjoying the full support of the Spanish Government and stands out as one of the most impressive among all examples of applied dialogue. It comprises musicians from all the countries in the region irrespective of their national or ethnic origin.

The concert of Mr. Barenboim with the Cairo Symphony Orchestra will take place under the auspices of the Austrian Federal Minister for European and International Affairs, Mr. Michael Spindelegger, the Spanish Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, Mr. Miguel Ángel Moratinos and upon an initiative of former Austrian Foreign Minister, Ms. Ursula Plassnik.
