Job/ relocating help questions (Calgary)

Hi
I'm looking to relocate to calgary in the next couple of months.
I'm an American citizen living in NY at the moment. I visited CAlgary 4 times in the last 6 months. I would love to find a job first ... But I'm having problems understanding the process. Can somebody help me with this.
My understanding is thts I do not need a visa to go there and stay 6 months. But I do need a working permit to work. But also you need a job offer, witch is really hard to get and apply from outside de country.
Any recommendation? Can I move there and then apply?
I have a degree in hospitality. I would love to get a job in the hospitality industry.
I appreciate all the help or tips, I'm finishing all this process a little overwhelming and no idea how to start this.
