What makes life in Dallas enjoyable for me is that the weather here is better than in Germany, there’s less bureaucracy, fewer rules and regulations, and people are more relaxed than back home. Taxes are lower, so you get to keep most of your earnings, and goods and housing are cheaper. — German expat living in Dallas

One thing I really appreciate about Dallas is that I enjoyed working at the medical university. I liked my boss, who, sadly, has passed away. He was a brilliant doctor and a wonderful person. I like the retirement benefits and the paid health insurance provided by my former employer — I’m lucky! — German expat living in Dallas

What makes life in Dallas difficult for me is that I find it extremely hard to come to terms with the current political situation. Many of my colleagues and friends support Trump, and as an immigrant, this worries me a lot. I hope that election will change the situation somewhat, but if that doesn’t happen, I’ll have to think seriously about my future plans in the US. — German expat living in Dallas

What I don’t like about Dallas is that the political situation has become much worse. What’s more, I’m finding the Texas summer heat increasingly irritating. — German expat living in Dallas
