Starting work in Dubai 1 Oct

Hi all :)

Just want some tips and help. Me and my boyfriend are starting work in Dubai on the 1st of Oct. We are from South Africa. I just have a few questions, just to prepare us for when we are that side. Cost of living compared to South Africa? We have accomedation and medical cover from our company, but still not geting a very large Salary. I'll be working as a waitress, what can I expect tips to be like? My boyfriend has diabetes, what would insulen and stuff cost extra there? Any info that would help us would be super helpful :)
