residency (Durban)

Hi all myself and my partner of now 7 years she is south African are moving back to Durban I myself work abroad on a month and month rotation we have decided to settle back in Durban permanently. I was just wondering weather I should get residency for south Africa and what would be the benefits if I did? I make a good wage overseas and should be able to retire in 10 or so years at Protected content
