InterNations Pretoria: Smuts Koppie Walk & Breakfast
Starts
in 4 weeks 1 day
Let's visit the former South African Stateman's property and go for a beautiful hike and enjoy a sumptious breakfast.
Jan Smuts was an avid nature lover and we will visit Smuts Koppie's Grasslands.
Grasslands are the source of all our staple foods.
Smuts fingergrass (Digitarua smutsii or eranthia) is an important pasture grass.
Jan Smuts was born on May 24, 1870, on the Bovenplaats farm near Riebeeck West in the Cape Colony (now South Africa). A prominent South African statesman, military leader, and philosopher, he lived until September 11, 1950, serving as Prime Minister and a British Field Marshal during his career.
Legacy: Known for his roles in the Boer War, WWI, WWII, and his contributions to the creation of the League of Nations and the United Nations.
