InterNations Singapore Official Event
Playing to this theme, let us tune to yet another festive mood and try something a little different from the usual.
Nestled along the Singapore River, welcome to Clarke Quay's oldest and most iconic property with a distinctively alluring architecture showcasing exquisite Southern Chinese style!
The River House, a Chinese mansion (Teochew style) built in the 1880s was once a hub for commerce and rumoured to be a triad’s HQ; the notorious Ghee Hok Society triad (Secret Society)!
It was one of several societies in Singapore that fell under the umbrella organization known as the Ghee Hin Kongsi (Heaven and Earth Society or Tiandi Hui), which aimed to overthrow the Manchu-led Qing dynasty and restore the Ming dynasty in China.
Before their dissolution in 1890, the Ghee Hok engaged in frequent, violent clashes with rival Ghee Hin triads and other local societies like the Say Tan, Say Lim, and Hai San.
Whilst that’s already the past, grab a fortune cookie and see what great things the future has in store for you in the coming year! A great conversation piece!
Want more than just a fortune cookie? Ask us about the fortune sticks too!
We’ll see you there! Our gathering won’t be a secret! No violent clashes too!
