Assistance when visiting the prefecture (Grenoble)

Hello everyone,

I hope to be moving to France in the new year. I going to move to the haute Maurienne, in Val Cenis. But I will have to go to Grenoble to lodge all my paperwork at the Prefecture in Grenoble. I was wondering what this prefecture is like, and what it is like visiting the prefecture? Also is there any one offering a service to assist people when they visit the prefecture. My french is very basic. Thanks Ash
