Islamabad Essentials!!

Hey Guys,

So I maybe woking in Islamabad for a NGO. I think I've got a very basic idea what it's like to live there. I just wanted to get a perspective on a few points:

Do I need to filter the tap water to drink it? I'm wondering if it is worth bringing along a portable water filter.

How hard and expensive is it to buy legit brand name products like electronics? I used to work in Africa, and I was kicking myself for not bringing some essential item that I couldn't get in-country.

Is pickpocketing or violent crime a serious issue? How protective do I have to be of my personal belongings when on the street, in a cafe, or in a hotel?
