Residence Visa appointment - after leaving Turkey! (Istanbul)

I have a situation where my appointment to obtain my Residence Visa (first time) is AFTER the date I will be leaving Turkey.. and my then I will have over-stayed my tourist visa. Has anyone else been in this situation? And, if so, how have you handled this?
