Smog in Krakow (Kraków)

Hello – we are thinking of relocating to Krakow, thus the reason I joined this community. We just visited the city a week ago, and were shocked by the smog situation. We usually visit during the summer; therefore, were not aware of the severity of the situation, and the fact that the air quality is among the worst in the world. For those living in Krakow, does the smog have any health implications for you? I understand that one of the biggest culprits are domestic solid fuel furnaces. I read somewhere that a proposed new law would mandate the replacement of coal furnaces with sources that do not contribute to air pollution; however, it is a budgetary issue. Just wanted to get a local’s perspective…
