Mindful Movements in July

From meditation sessions to mountain hikes, our communities are making the most of this month!

Taking Care & Getting Active

This month is International Self-Care Day (24 July) — a great opportunity to reflect on your health, lifestyle, and what makes you happy.

Meditation is one way of practicing self-care, as experienced by the Montréal After Work Drinks Group on 20 July. Members enjoyed Summer Vibe Drinks and Meditation in the park to connect with their inner self and one another.

With their Peaceful Evening of Meditation, the Istanbul Spirituality and Wellness Group had a similar idea. It didn’t matter if attendees were new to mediation or had plenty of experience, the mix of guided and silent practices helped everyone enjoy the moment and find inner calm.

Focusing on just your breath may sound simple, but it’s in fact a powerful tool when it comes to being present in the moment and connecting with your emotions. Add a natural setting, and you’re all set for a gentle yet rewarding experience like the Singapore Wellness & Health Group’s Be Here Now: Mindfulness and Gardens activity.

Yoga is another popular practice of self-care, recharging both the body and the mind. Members of the Global Well-Being Group regularly come together for joint sessions like the Stretch & Breath Yoga activity on 13 July.

In Bucharest, the Community Group was invited to a very special session: Puppy Yoga! Yes, you read that right: cute puppies joined in as attendees practiced their cats, cows, and downward dogs.

Of course, simply getting active can be a big boost for your health. The Let’s Dance Toronto activity of the Toronto Explorers Group is a great example. Attendees joined a local outdoor event to enjoy the lovely weather, live music, and free dance class.

From the Beach to the Mountain

In The Hague, Ambassadors organized a unique seafront venue for their White Beach Connect.  Following the popular white party theme, the official event was a great occasion to relax with friends old and new.

With summer temperatures even reaching far-north Oslo, members of the Outdoor Adventures Group made sure to enjoy the warmth with a Beach Day at Langøyene.

Equipped with swimwear and sunblock, the Chicago World Travel Enthusiasts also took advantage of the pleasant weather with a visit to Foster Beach for some Sun, Sand & Potluck.

True to their name, things got a bit more wild with the Madrid Outdoor & Extreme Sports Group. Escaping the heat of the city, group members went Wakesurfing & Wakeboarding in San Juan Lake.

Two snapshots of the Madrid Outdoor & Extreme Sports Group's wakesurfing activity, showing an attendee successfully wakeboarding as well as members having a good time on the chartered boat.

If you’d rather enjoy nature without braving the waves, then take a look at the various hiking activities coming up in many of our communities. In Reading, for instance, you can join the Outdoor Adventures Group’s Sunday Walk (27 July) to Reading’s largest public park, including a lunch stop at the Mansion House.

The Lucerne Outdoor Adventures Group is getting ready to tackle a challenging hike to Grosser Mythen on Saturday, 27 July.

In Amman, members are coming together for a Hike with Barbeque in the beautiful Ajloun area. The guest list for this particular activity is already full, but take a look at your own Events calendar for similar get-togethers — or host your own!
