Tram and Bus in Milan

Ciao! I moved to Milan in April and live steps away from the Green and Red line. I'm DYING to learn HOW to take the Bus and Tram but my local friends who take public transportation never have the time to explain it to me. Has anyone figured out how to go around by bus and or tram? The metro also goes on strike often so it would be great to have alternate means of travel beyond Uber. Looking forward to hearing from you!
