Suggestions on a lovely neighborhood near metro? (Montréal)

After some extensive looking at apartments in "town" (on line) I would like to consider living out of the city but walking distance to metro so my husband can easily get to work @ St. Luc's hospital area.

ANYONE have any suggestions for areas? I have a wish list:

close to metro
close to a park
close to a nursery school (one 4 year old)
close to shopping but not quite as necessary as if he is on metro I'll have the car :)

If you know of a property....great! If you can suggest a lovely area that would be wonderful!!! We have a nice Dalmatian too....so, pet friendly is very important.
