offered a Job in Muscat

I am Samuel from Auckland. I have been offered a teaching job at the international school of Muscat and would like to hear from anyone living in Muscat that could give me some advice about this school as well as the city itself.

I am quite excited as this part of the world is quite interesting for me. Just wanting to know a few things such as...

what is social life like in Muscat (for somewhat youngish single man) :)
is there cricket and rugby clubs there?
is internet accessible?
I have transport to and from work provided, will getting around outside of work hours be too difficult without a car?

I'm sure I have more questions but don't want to bombard you all.
