Car insurance rates for new residents? (Ottawa)

Hi all,

I recently arrived in Canada after a few years in the US. Before that, I have lived in the Netherlands and driven a car for 15 years without any accidents.
As a newcomer, it turns out to be hard to find a decently priced insurance for my car. The Dutch years of experience are not recognized by the insurance companies and the broker that I am using has come up with a quote of $ Protected content year(!).
Does anybody in this community have good experience with a good insurance or broker in the Ottawa area? What do people typically pay for their insurance just after arriving in Canada?
