Can you drink the tap water? (Panama City)

Can you drink the tap water in Panama City or Bocas? I just had a peek at the temperatures in October when my husband will be traveling throughout Panama and it's HOT! We've never been in such hot temperatures before.

I'm thinking about ways to keep hydrated. Looks like he'll need to buy water by the gallon! :) I'm wondering if he'll actually leave his air conditioned hotel room. Poor guy, he's going to melt.

How do some of you stay cool? Any tips?
