UKVI staff deal on a daily basis with a valuable commodity - potential access to the UK – and our staff are committed to the highest standards of professionalism and integrity. We have experienced, both in the UK and overseas, problems relating to fraud and corruption. Some of the problems have been as a result of concerted attempts by organised crime to bypass the systems in place to safe guard the entry clearance operation. Other problems have been as a result of carelessness and negligence, or through individuals spotting an opportunity to make money and abuse the systems that we have in place. Corrupt or fraudulent activity can only be successful if the operating environment permits it.
