Giorgio Tentolini – Michael Gambino
Galleria Russo presents the works of two young artists
in their first Roman personal exhibition
Opening Tuesday 22 May Protected content , at 6pm
Galleria Russo presents the exhibition Doppio volo. Giorgio Tentolini – Michael Gambino: the first Roman
exhibition of the two young artists will present their last works in the spaces of the historical gallery from 22
May to 12 June Protected content .
As introduced in the exhibition catalogue, Marco Di Capua, curator of the exhibition, states that “There is
something very light, actually something aerial that circulates through the rooms of this exhibition, turning
the space of Galleria Russo into a fly zone useful to a swarm of hundreds of small colourful wings (and so far
we agree) but also of strong, twisted signs, of interweaves and knots, of passages – this is the term: passages,
but we will talk about this better further ahead – of light and shade.
The works of Giorgio Tentolini, produced with light armours in tulle or metal mesh alternate with those of
Michael Gambino, characterized by coloured butterflies cut by hand.
Giorgio Tentolini Protected content the image as “levels”, planes of the vision subsequently reassembled into
an ideal totality as a whole, as an interpenetration of schematic elements at a perceptive level. This approach,
in the evolution of his artistic career, will turn into thoughtful engravings on layers of impalpable material such
as tulle, pvc nets, paper and, finally, metal nets. Each of his artworks are born from a specific research on Time
as memory and identity, in a careful and slow reconstruction that takes place with the study of the light and
the engraving of layers of different materials, which give a meditative levity to the image, a metaphor of places
and memories, dreams and visions.
