Appartments furnished vs unfurnished (Santiago de Chile)

Hi! All the appartments we see posted are for furnished appartments and our contacts say that furnished is easier to find than unfurnished? ... To rent ... Is this true? We would be willing to leave our stuff in storage in the states. Are appartments, especially furnished ones open to having cats? We have one. We were thinking of looking in the Las Condes area. Thanks for your help!
