Health insurance for children (Skopje)

Hi,
I have a son who has health insurance in Slovenia and also the European Health card.
Does he need to have also a local health insurance, since we plan to stay longer? That would mean that I have to cancel his current one, I assume.
How do other parents handle this situation?
